Riky Rick & A-Reece Latest To Drop In A Massive Hip-Hop Year

South African hip-hop, the authority on urban youth culture, has had its best year yet. As the genre continues to evolve into an authentic local sound, the emergence of exciting new talent and iconic status of its biggest stars keep the culture thriving.

Cassper’s impressive Thuto, AKA x Anatii’s hit factory BCWYWF, Emtee’s trappy Manando, Reason’s conceptual Girls, Malum’s infectious Mlazi Milano, Shane Eagle’s refreshing Yellow and K.O’s comeback Skhanda Republic 2 are some of the best to drop this year alone. You’d think its a wrap for the year right? Evidently not, hip-hop as a couple more drops this;

This week Riky Rick announced he’s dropping an 8-track EP Stay Shining on 3rd November after teasing a project with the 3-track Scooby Snacks in May. The EP includes singles Buy It Out, the title track Stay Shining featuring Cassper, Professor and Major League and Vapors with Tshego and Nasty C. A-Reece, Davido, Gemini Major are also featured on the feature heavy project,  the Buy It Out remix alone features Youngsta CPT, J Molley, Frank Casino, KLY, Stilo Magolide and DA LES.

Fresh off the Whose Tour Is It Anyway tour, A-Reece announced a 15-track project to celebrate the first anniversary of his debut album Paradise, dropping October 21st. Besides dropping FMTYAYO two months ago, this is Baby Boy’s first full project since leaving Ambiouz Records early this year, the project is released under Wrecking Crew. Frequent collaborator Flame features on three tracks while the project also features Zoocci Coke Dope, Rowlene, Ayanda Jiya, Enkei and Louw.

Even though we’re ready to call this year out as the best yet, we’ll wait to see who else drops this year.
