Shane Eagle Exceeds Expectations With Yellow

”I stopped making music for the fans and started making music for myself” says a laid-back Shane Eagle during an interview on MetroFM’s Absolute Hip-Hop.

After a short hiatus from the scene, Shane Eagle dropped one of the best albums this year, not just in Hip-Hop but musically. The J.Cole inspired debut album spent a week as the number one selling album digitally, an impressive feat for a hip-hop debut.

After dropping 6 singles, some of which he dropped while signed to JR’s Feel Good Music, he seemed destined to drop a trap influenced album based on the direction he took on his debut single Way Up and the Bigstar Johnson assisted Top Floor. He decided to keep the thoughtful yet mellow sounds we heard on Cutting Corners and Julia, both giving us a glimpse into his life as he deals with the come-up, relationships, family and social issues he grapples with.

“I think, imagine and dream in the colour yellow” he says of the album title Yellow. Besides Let It Flow and the KLY featured Need Me, some stand out tracks from the 13 track album are the title track Yellow, Can You See Me, Aliens x Convos with God, Mihi and Winter.

If you enjoyed Cutting Corners and Julia, you won’t be disappointed with this offering, a great piece of work from the Hustle tv show alumni. Also check out the impressive Let It Flow and Need Me visuals on the tube. This is top floor!
